Not only is the equipment cheap, but you can reach a huge marketplace of potential customers cheaply as well. If you’re just a small company or individual, then the playing field is much friendlier because the big companies are lagging behind and you can now compete right along with them. Forget about that traveling all over the place to see potential customers, save the traveling for fun places like going to the beaches in Hawaii.
People tend to respond better to visual web content than reading text. Why would people rather watch things than read them? Well, let’s be honest, it’s because we are all lazy. I know that may be a bit harsh, but it is true. When someone is on the internet searching for information to solve their problem, they want an answer now. We all want instant gratification, and as a marketer you need to understand that principle.
When Google announced that they were buying YouTube back in October of 2006, some people didn’t understand the implications of that. They paid $1.65 billion dollars for it. Let me pause for a second so that you can recall how big that number is. That’s right, billion, not million – for a website. There is a reason that Google did this; they knew that the future was in video and they thought they would make their money back and huge returns as well. If this isn’t a wakeup call for you then nothing will be.
